Channel the vibrancy
of the universe.
An archive of color rooted in real places. We keep each color tied to its source so it can move forward without losing where it came from.
The archive is building a way for color to stay true to its source from object to print.
The archive is being built in public, one collection at a time. Its first field season follows a year-long route across Canada: Atlantic to Pacific to Arctic, with a stop in Austria for family roots. Each stop adds new evidence. The method has to hold across all of it.
A durable archive with a magazine front door.
Unichrome is not a palette generator with a story wrapped around it. It is becoming an archive of colors sampled from real places, published through dispatches that keep the road, the method, and the memory legible.
The color record comes first: place, source object, witness, method, and enough disclosure for the work to be judged.
Dispatches are the front door. Essays carry readers into the archive, and tokens become evidence inside the story.
This first volume is complete when the route has crossed Atlantic, Pacific, Arctic, Austria, and returned. After that, it is maintained, not grown.
Your colors carry meaning.
