GBAY · April 2026
Silos, shorelines, and the color a place leaves in you.
Collingwood in April: cold water, warm brick, the particular light that makes a grain terminal look like a cathedral. The first sub-collection of GBAY. Printed at a local shop in town.
Collected April 2026 · Collingwood, ON
On this land
The Collingwood sub-collection was sampled from inside a town that sits on Anishinaabeg land — Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation and Saugeen First Nation, the Saugeen Ojibway Nation.
The archive catches what the harbor looks like from where visitors stand. The people who have tended this water longer than any town has been here are not inside the archive, and they are the ones the place belongs to.
Collingwood is where the trip became real. We'd been planning the work for months — the printing station in the trunk, the sampling pipeline, the partnerships with local shops — and here was the first place we actually did it.
The town has layers. The grain terminal on the water is one century; the ski hills fifteen minutes inland are another. Main Street holds the middle. The colors we pulled here lean toward the industrial shoreline — steel blues, weathered reds, the particular grey the sky gets before rain.
Every print in this sub-collection was sampled in the span of a single April week and printed at a local shop in town. About sixty cents of every dollar spent here stays in this community.
